Coffee, ice cream, and boba share one Census code

NAICS 722515 — snack & non-alcoholic beverage bars (incl. coffee shops) — Census does not split these types. The density index uses that one count.

A ZIP “coffee” number is also ice cream, juice, and boba when those shops exist.

Six digits is the floor. On this site that code includes coffee shops, espresso bars, boba / bubble tea shops, juice & smoothie bars, ice cream & frozen yogurt shops. Every full-service cuisine is likewise one code (722511). There is no Mexican-restaurant-only ZIP count in the public file.

Map dots can split café from ice cream when OpenStreetMap tagged them that way. They cannot split cuisine, and they are never used to compute the index. A mismatch between dots and the Census count is expected.

Each industry page lists what is bundled. If you need a coffee-only number, public ZIP data cannot give it.

What to do with this

Read the “includes” line on the county report. Use the map as a street sketch, not a second census.
